Weedon Partnership llp originally obtained planning permission on this site to the northern edge of the city core for a contemporary residential scheme of apartments with allowance for some Ground Floor Commercial use.

Subsequent review of the market place encouraged the client, Barteak Developments Ltd., to approach us to submit a revised Planning Application comprising of Post and Under Graduate University Accommodation along with some Office use to Ground and 1st floors.

The scheme is based on the local warehouse vernacular but with a contemporary interpretation of window scale and module set within the traditional framework precedent

The random interplay of solid and void provides a foil to the austerity of the surrounding buildings whilst maintaining their proportions. Further expression of the façade is achieved by the varying depths of the window reveals to achieve a true "living" elevation.
