Granary Building, King's Cross, London

The Grade 11 Listed Granary Building in King's Cross Goods Yard is part of a collection of 19th Century Listed and non listed buildings and structures within a Conservation area.

The 6 storey building was constructed in 1852 and is flanked by the Eastern and Western Transit sheds. A concept by Stanton Williams for University of the Arts, London incorporates the Granary Building and Weedon Partnership llp have been appointed to take the scheme through to completion.

Two new cores are added to complement the two existing cores that are being retained. In addition a new accommodation stair allows vertical navigation from ground to first floor. Two new wall climber lifts are also being installed to the northern wall.

Extensive consultations with the local planners and English Heritage has been undertaken throughout the project to achieve the quality of restoration required.

The design is underpinned by a holistic environmental strategy to reduce energy and address carbon emissions towards achieving a "Very Good" rating.

The project is due for completion in Spring 2010
