This one off house in Harborne, Birmingham was commissioned by DBL Properties Ltd. The site, comprising a disused lawnmower-repair shed with a couple of redundant industrial-looking outbuildings, is bounded by a public house car park containing 11no mature lime trees on one side, a public right of way with adjacent rear gardens on another, and finally a narrow road with no parking or pavement provision forms this difficult triangular shape of less than 200m².

This resultant plan form, determined by constraints, led to a simplified design principle of suburban terrace proportions to match the current street scene, whist enabling exploration of two separate and bold elevations within the confines of the same dwelling to maximise the views out and minimise overlooking and wasted space.
