Phil Cole - Partner

Phil Cole

Phil received his diploma from Birmingham School of Architecture and joined Weedon Partnership in 1995. Initially, he worked on the urban regeneration of Brindleyplace Birmingham, and in 2000 became a partner in the practice.

A specialist in mixed use regeneration projects, inner city residential schemes and conservation/refurbishment opportunities, he has worked on a number of high profile and award winning multi million pound Inner City regeneration projects.

Recent projects include the comprehensive regeneration of the Hicking Building site in Nottingham, four major mixed use developments in Digbeth, Birmingham and the completion of extensive inner city regeneration in Norwich.

Phil enjoys working on projects that have a contemporary approach to architecture creating a sense of place through the realisation of innovative architectural design and detail.

Terry Lee - Partner

Terry Lee

Terry joined the practice in 1987 and became a partner in 1991.

In his time he has worked with clients in a broad range of sectors including automotive, commercial, ecclesiastical, financial, industrial research and public sector. Notable clients include Aston Martin, Jaguar Land Rover, Ford Motor Co. Defence Estates, West Midlands Police, GlaxoSmithKline and West Herts College.

The Aston Martin Design Studio at Gaydon exemplifies Terry's approach to design and has been successful in obtaining, amongst others, an RIBA design award.

Terry is a graduate of the Birmingham School of Architecture and a certified member of the Association for Project Management.

Melanie Whild - Partner

Melanie Whild

Melanie studied architecture at Birmingham School of Architecture and has been a member of the RIBA since 1988.

She first joined Weedon Partnership in 1983 becoming a partner in 1991, being involved in the overall management of the practice as well as design and delivery of the Toyota Manufacturing Plant and several large commercial projects around the country.

Melanie is currently working on the regeneration of Kings Cross, London, following the successful completion of developments at Brindleyplace, Birmingham, and Piccadilly Place Manchester.

These projects are characterised by their modern approach to architecture as well as functionality, achieving high quality architectural solutions through cost effective detailing cleverly merged into overall design philosophy.

Tim Bennett - Associate

Tim Bennett

Tim joined the Weedon Partnership in the summer of 1995 to add valued experience gained in CAD implementation of Bentley Microstation into the architectural field.

Snce joining the practice he and his colleagues have developed and kept pace with the ever increasing performance hardware and the complexity of Architectural software within the workplace.

In 1999 he became IT associate with new responsibilities for initial project set-up and co-ordination throughout the life of projects. He also provides and co-ordinates training and support for the key personnel in 2D & 3D Microstation CAD.

Tim is particularly interested in the single model building approach and the 3D graphic visualisation aspect of projects as a specialism within the office.

Matthew Dix - Associate

Matthew Dix

Matthew Dix joined Weedon Partnership in 2001 and was appointed as an associate in 2005. He has a wide range of project experience including leisure facilities, large scale mixed use and residential complexes, multi storey commercial developments and sensitive refurbishment projects.

His approach to architecture is characterised by individual designs that respond to both client and contextual requirements through innovative design solutions and refined detailing.

Owen Doherty - Associate

Owen Doherty

Owen joined Weedon Partnership in 1984 and has been successfully involved in a variety of projects. These projects are characterised by their technical approach to ensuring the clients' aspirations are executed to the highest standards.

Owen began his career in architecture following initial training as an engineering draughtsman and a short period on site as a steel fixer/shuttering carpenter and machine driver.

Besides his architectural responsibilities Owen is also the practice quality manager and has written the QA manual.

His varied experience has enabled him to fulfill the role of Design Manager for contractors and project managers under a separate appointment for Weedon Partnership.

Andrew Griffiths - Associate

Andrew Griffiths

Andrew joined Weedon Partnership in 1996 to work on GDEC, Gaydon, which led to the role as team leader for a variety of projects including the award winning Rolls Royce Turbine Blade Machining Facility and Number 7 Brindleyplace.

His previous experience had a strong strong commercial base and included shopping centres in Newcastle and Liverpool and football stadiums including St Andrews and the Hawthorns.

During 1999 his enthusiasm and commitment to the practice earned him promotion to Associate.

Andrew has a keen interest in and encourages the promotion of technical excellence and attention to detail within the office that in turn enhances the development of architectural concepts.

Alan Leaning - Associate

Alan Leaning

Alan joined Weedon Partnership in 1984 on a 1 year youth training scheme and was taken on full time at the end of this period and has been with the practice ever since.

Alan has been successfully involved in a wide variety of projects and is committed to combining conceptual theories with technical knowledge in order to develop a client's aspirations into reality.

Alan is currently working on commercial building projects at Piccadilly Place, Manchester, and Kings Cross, London.
